HERE ARE THE FACTS
THE DEMOCRATS ARE TRYING TO REWRITE HISTORY…
HERE ARE THE FACTS!
MISSING SIGNS RESPONSE
-
Every year the Democrats claim that we are taking down their signs. In fact, every year signs from both political parties are taken down. We have also been accused of obscuring Democratic political signage by placing our signs in front of theirs. Aside from the fact that our signs were set up around town at least four days before theirs, no one involved on the campaign would ever engage in such petty and illegal activities.
-
Be assured that we do not remove any signs and strongly encourage that anyone caught taking down political signs be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We are confident that no one on our campaign is involved – and we will always remain vigilant for violators.
CANCELED MEETING RESPONSE
-
The council meeting was canceled on Thursday Oct. 15th due to conflicts with council member’s schedules. Notification was posted on Channel 77 as well as being faxed to the newspapers.
HEALTH INSURANCE RESPONSE
-
The Democrats are trying to rewrite history. Jerry Holt, a former Republican Mayor and Councilman spoke before the council to propose eliminating offering health care to all council members as a way to reduce health care expenses for the taxpayers of Ringwood. At that time there were both Republican and Democratic council members receiving health care benefits from the Borough of Ringwood. The policy of offering health care to council members was terminated several years ago by a bi-partisan council. Solely the Democratic council members did not do this, as they state.
OPEN SPACE RESPONSE
-
The Morris Land Conservancy, a nonprofit land preservation organization, hired by the former Democratic council, generated the Open Space list that our opponents speak of. Tom MacAllen and the Democratic controlled council adopted this list of properties in 2005. The same properties are on the list today. BELOW IS THE PROOF! (continued)
OPEN SPACE RESPONSE (CONTINUED)
-
In 2008, The Morris Land Conservancy proposed that the Council apply to the Passaic County Open Space Committee for a grant to purchase the next available property on the list. That property is located on Skyline Drive between Fieldstone Drive and the Spirit gas station. We can all agree that development along that portion of Skyline Drive would not be a good idea. Unfortunately, the Passaic County Open Space Committee decided not to fund the grant for this property. Grace Hazeldine and other members from the Ringwood Democratic Party can be thanked for going to the Passaic county Open Space Committee meeting and lobbying against Ringwood receiving this grant.
